Ephesians 3:14-21
Women of an older “Moses” generation intentionally praying the Word of God over younger “Joshua” generations at such a time as this
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in ‘Granny Army’.
“Please pray for us – we need you!” was the cry from a young man’s heart to the older members of the congregation in front of him. He had broken off preaching from Joshua chapter 1 to issue his plea on behalf of himself and his younger ‘Joshua’ generation. He was well aware of the opposition encountered as they choose to walk forward, like the Biblical Joshua, into all that God has for them. At that moment of hearing his words, Holy Spirit planted the seed of ‘Granny Army’ in my heart. Within weeks the same cry from another young man was recounted to me, this time to folk in a residential care home as they lifted their voices together singing great hymns of praise and worship: “Please pray for us! You have something so precious – time. We need you.”
These were cries for help from young people who have decided to follow Jesus. There are countless others who are not yet surrendered to His love who do not know they can call for help, and tragically others who are too tiny, weak and voiceless to do so anyway. Each one does need help at such a time as this. Help to enter into and stand in that glorious promised land of eternal relationship with our Heavenly Father, restored and reconciled with Him now and for evermore by the shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary, and His glorious resurrection.
Our help is in the Name of the Lord (Psalm 124:8). The Lord is our Banner/Miracle (Exodus 17:15). Lord Jesus Christ is the Word (John 1:1-14). As Moses lifted the rod of God, with which signs were performed (Exodus 4:17), over the embattled Joshua and the young men of Israel, they prevailed (Exodus 17:11-13). We hold in our hands today the revealed Word of God – the Holy Bible. As we quite literally speak out the Word of God over our embattled younger ‘Joshua’ generations we too lift Jehovah Nissi, the Lord our Banner/Miracle, over them to help them to prevail at such a time as this
“Why an army of ‘Grannies’?” you may be asking. “What about the ‘Grandads’?” The short answer is: because the Lord spoke to me only about ‘Grannies’. As women our natural tendency is to draw and enfold beleaguered young ones to us. In the spiritual sense this is a holding of them in our hearts. Do ‘Joshuas’ and ‘Grannies’ need ‘Grandads’? Of course! According to Father God’s family pattern the role of the senior men, the ‘Grandads’, is of great significance. Their role may differ from that of the ‘Grannies’, but both are vital.
I am part of a company of folk with a particular calling as a house of prayer for the nations. I am truly thankful for them, and the many others who have come alongside to help nurture and grow that ‘Granny Army’ seed, bringing it to maturity ready to bear fruit in its season.

VISION
Granny Army has relationship at its heart – relationship of both ‘Grannies’ and ‘Joshuas’ with Father God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Granny Army is a call to prayer – ‘Grannies’ praying out of their relationship with Father God, praying ‘Joshuas’ into deepening relationship with Father God, speaking words of Truth, Light and Life over them in these ever-increasing days of darkness.
Granny Army is a means of equipping – equipping ‘Grannies’ with why and what to pray.
Granny Army is not a new or separate organisation – it is a heart attitude of ‘Grannies’ praying where they are planted, day by day, for the ‘Joshuas’ whom Holy Spirit lays on their hearts, and doing so together with others in unity of spirit whether ‘2 or 3 gathered together’ or alone.

WHAT TIME … ?
WHAT TIME IS ‘SUCH A TIME AS THIS’?
Perilous times! There is nothing new under the sun, but 24hr global communication enables us all to hear all:
confusion and conflict across continents, nations, communities, families and individuals
political, economic and climatic instability and disorder
alcohol, illegal drugs, pornography, gambling, weapons, violence, bullying – all by the click of an electronic button
children assaulted in body from conception
children assaulted in mind from infancy – personal/gender identity; trained to hate and to kill
lack of sound teaching, learning, understanding and applying of the Word of God.
deception, denial, compromise and falling away from Biblical truth by Governments, organisations and individuals, even in parts of the Body of Christ
increasing persecution, even to death, of those who speak and live Biblical truth
Time of great expectation!
Jesus said “I am coming soon”!
time of the Spirit of God being poured out
time to wake up and arise
time to look up
Time to watch and pray!
‘GRANNY ARMY’ PRAYER: Ephesians 3:14-21
“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height – to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen”

Moses was a man who had an encounter with I AM, the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He heard the Lord’s call on his life and responded in trust. After coming out of Egypt, Joshua and the young men of Israel had to battle for survival against the Amalekites. Moses, as senior leader, recognised the seriousness of the situation and came to their defence by interceding – lifting the rod of God, ‘The Lord, my Banner,’ over them. There was victory that day and the Children of Israel went on to enter into their God-given inheritance.
Exodus 17:8-16
THE ‘GRANNIES’ ARE WOMEN:
who are of more senior years
who love Jesus as their Lord and Saviour
who sit at His feet to hear the word that He speaks
who recognise the intensity of the battle which is being waged against young ‘Joshuas’ today to prevent them from coming into their God-given eternal inheritance
who will respond to the call of Father God to hold the young people in their hearts, standing on their knees before His throne for them
who have their own families or none
who are fully active or very confined
who hear the voice of the Lord, even if suffering natural hearing loss
who are able to see with the eyes of their understanding, despite any natural visual impairment
ARMY OF GRANNIES…?
WHY AN ‘ARMY’ OF GRANNIES?
The Roman Army had a very effective battle strategy called the ‘tortoise’ formation. The soldiers formed up in ranks with shields held to the front, outer sides and aloft, giving protection individually and collectively under a ‘tortoise shell’. It was very difficult for the enemy to penetrate.
Aaron and Hur were alongside Moses as he sat on a rock overlooking the battlefield, interceding for the young men of God. The ‘Grannies’ are Christian soldiers forming up in unity of purpose. Each one of us is perfectly positioned to lift up our shield, the Lord Jesus Christ, over ourselves and our ‘Joshuas.’ Whether meeting in twos and threes, large groups or just singly, we stand alongside one another on the Rock of our Lord Jesus Christ, just as Moses, Aaron and Hur did, so that our ‘Joshuas’ too will prevail over the enemy of their souls and come into their full eternal inheritance.

JOSHUAS..?
How can a young man/woman keep his/her heart pure? By guarding it according to Your Word.
Psalm 119:9

WHO ARE THE ‘JOSHUAS’? Young generations generally, and specifically those whom the Holy Spirit lays on each of our hearts.
They may be:
constant in our lives – in family/church….
fleetingly come to our attention – on a bus/TV….
neighbours, grandchildren’s school friends….
a few, numerous or just a single great-grandchild.
walking with the Lord or not yet surrendered to His love.
babies born or unborn, teens, young marrieds, young leaders – just young.
we may know a great deal about them or virtually nothing, be in touch with them or never communicate.
they may live life in the public eye or be very solitary and hidden from view.
Each ‘Joshua’ does, however, ultimately still have their own responsibility before the Lord.
